My Buddy’s Place, an online platform founded by Sean Downey, of Pasadena, gives you everything you need to make sure your pooch is in tip-top shape. As the proud owner of three dogs, he knows how important it is to keep pet’s medical records straight and communicate with different service providers.

“You need to be proactive in the care of your animal,” said Downey. “If you present all the information available to you, [a vet] will have a better chance at diagnosing your dog.”

From one easy-to-navigate platform, you can search for service providers, like vets and groomers, schedule appointments and keep track of notes like what brand of food your vet recommends or how often you should get your dog’s teeth cleaned.

Another feature is the Buddy Passport which gives a snapshot of your dog including, basic needs like special food; identifying information such as, license number; a medical history with specific veterinary information, and room for fun personality traits and photos.

My Buddy’s Place recently partnered with the Hydrant app which connects rescue organization to pet parents and service providers. This app is free for shelters and allows them to keep an accurate health record of their dogs – this technology is especially important because many shelter dogs are transported to different locations in order to be adopted. With Hydrant, they can seamlessly share the information with new pet parents.

“As you care for the dog, the app grows too,” said Downey. “It streamlines the information you need.”

The app and tracking platform help owners establish habits and monitor the health of their dogs. As Downey explained, dogs are creatures of habit and building a consistent schedule of playtime, mealtime and walks will make your dog happy and healthy.

With a premium membership to My Buddy’s Place, new pet parents get the Hydrant app for free. They can use this mobile app to record ongoing health needs, track activities, find products and service providers in their area and receive ongoing care tips based on the specific breed and age of their new rescue dog.

The only thing we’re left wondering is why an equivalent management system hasn’t come out for people.
