Decorating Help Comes in Different Sizes

When it comes to decorating your home, you may be unsure about hiring an interior decorator. You may be worried about the decorator coming in and taking over until you are left with a home you no longer recognize. Wait—is that family photo even yours?
Did you know you can hire a decorator for just a room or piece of furniture at a time? Commit-a-phobes rejoice!
Local business Random Hive was started by two friends who wanted to take their interior design experience and apply it in unexpected ways, like their design packages sorted by level of commitment. We spoke with Kristen Collins, one of the founders, to learn about some of their unique design packages for those of us who have a hard time relinquishing control.
The Bronze Package is about accessorizing. This package comes with a free in-home consultation and is great for those who have the big stuff, like couches and other staples, but need help with those important finishing touches. If you need help finding the perfect area rug or the right wall sconce for your foyer to complete your home, this is the design package you’ve been looking for.
The Silver Package is a for someone who has a bit more work on their hands, but would rather be the one doing the heavy lifting. If you are a DIY kind of person then this plan will be best for you. It comes with a free in-home consultation to start off. You will also receive a floor plan of the room you are decorating. This is a great tool to help lay out your room before making major purchases (because what if that L-shaped couch doesn’t fit?) You will also get a furniture plan. This helps to determine the best layout of furniture to best optimize your space.
The Gold Plan is the most comprehensive of the three packages. This package comes with the free at home consultation, the floor plan and the furniture plan. Added to that is a mood board. The mood board helps you with the overall style for your home by laying out your desired colors and fabrics in one spot.
For example, if you like contemporary and your spouse prefers traditional, Kristen will take your styles and marry them by collecting inspiration for your mood board . “I have one client who loves mid-century-modern and he also loves industrial. But you see his architecture is very art deco. So I get to sort of marry all of the styles to make it work,” says Kristen.
Kristen tells us these packages were created to be both budget friendly and a way for her clients to feel in control of the space while getting the results they desire.
Your interior designer is here to help you be happy in your space, not take over your space.
