“Wet and Wonderful: Celebrating Our Precious Water” at Descanso Gardens
Tuesday, September 5, 2017
Foothill Municipal Water District (Foothill MWD or District) is pleased to announce an event at Descanso Gardens titled: “Wet & Wonderful: Celebrating Our Precious Water.” The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and is open to the public.
Residents are encouraged to bring the whole family as there will be educational music performances, Hawaiian-inspired jazz ukulele to enjoy throughout the day, and special BBQ menu options offered by Patina Restaurant Group available for purchase.
Event programming also includes lectures in the Van de Kamp Hall that cover a range of topics from harvesting rainwater with rain barrels, drought tolerant landscaping, and the California WaterFix.
The California WaterFix project is a $16.7 billion investment plan proposed by Governor Brown and CA Department of Water Resources to upgrade the state’s existing water delivery system by constructing two tunnels to move water supplies underneath, rather than through the Sacramento-San Joaquin Bay Delta.
Charles Wilson, of the Southern California Water Committee, will speak on California WaterFix, as water leaders aim to vote on financial commitment to the project.
A limited amount of free tickets to the gardens that day will be available by RSVP online at bit.ly/2s3CMLZ.
Foothill Municipal Water District provides imported water to Crescenta Valley Water District, La Cañada Irrigation District, Mesa Crest Water Company, Valley Water Company, Lincoln Avenue Water Company, Las Flores Water Company and Rubio Cañon Land & Water Association. Kinneloa Irrigation District, another retail agency, takes no water from Foothill.
